Fair Engagement Inspiration

Updated: Mar 13, 2022

Couples carnival inspiration photos - Portland Oregon

Are you looking for a fun, easy way to elevate your couples photos? Look no further. The fair has an atmosphere full of fun. Making it easy to create memories and candid photos. There are so many of both props and prompts that can take your photos to the next level.

Some fun props we used were cotton candy, the ferris wheel, and a couple stools in front of a game! If there is a smaller budget, a great way to save would be to stand beside the rides. A great example of this is the photo of Connor and Carly spinning next to the Swings. Instead of paying to go on or waiting in long lines, we improvised. We bought our cotton candy at the fair, but you could go to ROSS or another discount store near you and buy the cotton candy before heading to the fair.

When prepping for the photoshoot it is important to check the fair website to see if they have any rules about professional photography and for this years event dates! After that, once you get there, some workers do not always allow for photos. It is super important to be kind and ask for permission before pulling out your camera. Most of the time, if you pay to play, it shouldn’t be as much of an issue.

Words from the couple:

What did you love about your location?

We loved that the fair wasn’t far from home but was turned into a date night. Getting our photos taken there was so fun and easy going. We didn’t feel like we had to pose much because we were just being us and playing games!

What memory from your photoshoot do you remember the most strongly?

Our favorite memory was definitely feeding each other cotton candy on the ferris wheel! We had such a fun time swinging and laughing.

Funniest moment at your photoshoot?

The funniest moment was by far when we were taking photos by the swings. People were looking at us like we were crazy, but we didn’t care. I hopped on Connors back and we spun and spun and spun. We were laughing so hard and falling over. Those photos are now some of my favorites.

What advice would you give to future couples who are getting their photos taken?

If I could give any advice to a future couple, I would say to have fun. Do whatever it takes to be prepared and relaxed. When in doubt, just focus on one another and have fun!
